I've quite literally not had the time to write on my blog for what feels like an eternity and so am here now to rectify matters!
Along with some fantastic recent orders, I've been having an emotional battle with myself about my daughter's recent flare up with Crohn's disease. Some of you won't even know what Crohn's is and to put it rather bluntly, it's basically an illness where the immune system thinks ( in her case her colon ) your digestive system, or part of it, is being a threat and so attacks. It's rather debilitating to the sufferers with some horrid signs and symptoms and my daughter unfortunately has it rather severely and so things aren't easy some of the time and can become quite worrying and stressful for a parent, nevermind the poor child having to go through it.
The good news is that I've recently found a fantastic organisation/charity called CIRCA who have been running many years now and supporting child sufferers of Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis and their parents which is amazing because since my daughter's diagnosis in August 2010 we've had no support whatsoever, and a specialist whom, although brilliant at her job, has no obvious signs of a decent bedside manner.
So, within days we received an information/welcoming pack and are going to become members of this wonderful charity that run forums, penpal schemes for parents and children, masses of information and support and of course fundraising to hopefully find a cure one day and to pay for training and scolarships for our future doctors in the IBD department....all this adds up to WONDERFUL for us!
So, feeling a little less alone and burdeoned with the whole issue I'm feeling on track once more and able to get back on schedule with Button Fayre BUT I will be organising future fundraising events for CIRCA and would really love your support.
I've been busy designing and seem to create some beauties when I'm under pressure which is brilliant!
My recent ' Happy Place Textile Art ' is such a beautiful idea. I'm able to use my painting skills ( using fabric paints instead of other mediums ), sewing/appliqué skills, freehand machine embroidery skills and hand sewing skills to bring you some unique designs, mounted in white mount frames and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
I'm proud to be a registered artisan here in France, proud to hand over my taxes and fees every 3 months ( although I may not like it too much! he he he ) and extremely proud that I can use my imagination to create these wonderful pieces of art work.
So, here are a few photos and then, like the Mad Hatter, I must dash off once more but will be back very soon with a ' how to sew a brooch back onto a brooch ' tutorial.
The above ' Happy Place Textile Art ' was inspired by the rolling hills of the Millesvaches in the Limousin, France, where I live, and if you visit my Facebook page you will find a photo of a beautiful view just outside my small town.
This piece boasts some beautiful paintwork and metallic threads running through it and was inspired by my love of flowers and nature. I adore being able to use the happy colours in my head and the gorgeous fabrics I find to be able to come up with these pieces of art.
More photos on Button Fayre, Facebook, but for now à trés biénôt.
