I love the summer so much and our winter was rather mild compared to the usual Creuse coldness but spring seems to have gone on forever with temperatures up and down, up and down, not being able to make up their minds.
Summer seems to finally be with us though with stable temperatures in the 20's which is fantastic, the windows are all open, fresh air runs through the house and we're able to go on long walks.
I went shopping on Saturday and made my partner stop at the side of the road so that we could collect the wild large daisies, huge buttercups and some pink flowers...no idea what they are but they're pretty! We have masses of wild flowers growing everywhere around here and so I don't often have to buy them, I can just go hunting for them and come home with massive, beautiful, bouquets.
I've been very busy lately hence not writing on here for nearly a month, the shame of it. Sometimes life takes over though and you do your best to stay on top of things but have to prioritise too.
I've been in hospital for my daughter's examinations to see where her Crohn's disease is at, my eldest daughter left home for her job on the French Riviera and we've had bugs and illness in the house too, it's that time of the year.
I have made a beautiful daisy cushion for an order that I'll be posting on my Facebook page later today and I've been very busy creating more brooches and playing with my vintage fabrics and laces. I adore mixing old with new and have been in my element recently, not to mention how fantastic the wonderful Tanya's been from Pomme de Jour too, she's sent me the most gorgeous French 1960's/1970's fabrics recently and I also purchased the most gorgeous large tiles from her too, they're very old and extremely beautiful.
I wanted to tell you all about my new studio today but that can wait as I'm desperate to show you ' Doris Dolly Duck '. She's a brooch made with vintage laces, modern lace, vintage fabric and buttons and some hand sewn embroidery - she is way too gorgeous, I love her!
I was playing around with ideas the other day because I have an exhibition this coming Saturday so will be working flat out all week to prepare and sew things for it as I don't have much that's ready to go, I'm very excited though!
What do you think of Doris Dolly Duck? She's cute isn't she? I used fabric paint for her beak and wish to start using more painting in my designs in the near future so that's another exciting project on the go.
Last but not least is the news that ' Acorn tailed squirrel ' is going off to a new home in the USA! I'm very excited about it but a little sad too as I'd grown used to her being around and she is definately one of my most unique designs, I love how I came up with the idea to use acorn shapes for the tail, she's really something.
Here she is posing for one last photo, goodness she's a thing of beauty.
Next time there'll be more about my new studio and I'm so happy with it because it truly is the most wonderful space to collect your thoughts in, and work in! It feels very fresh and pure and I can't wait to Button Fayre it with lots of great designs.
Have a great day!
