I've had another incredible week and am once again rather stunned at the love and support that people are showing me for Button Fayre, the visits I get to my Facebook page, all the super duper comments and likes on my photos and in general the altruistic behaviour of the crafting community. We really are such a lovely crowd of extremely unselfish people, ready and willing to show support to to each other and I think this is amazing!
I want to give a huge, warm welcome to all of my new likers to my Facebook page this week too, crafters or not, you're all so great and I will work extra hard to keep the page filled with new and exciting ideas.
I am making a start on the design for a table runner this week-end which I'm super excited about. I do love custom designs because for me personally they are such a challenge as I have to really step outside of my little bubble to create something ' Button Fayre style ' that someone else has also had an input in. I get so carried away with myself sometimes and so have to remain very disciplined when it's a design for someone else.
I had to make a design this week for a cushion cover and the brief was very specific... the ' squared ' design of my ' Two Little Dickie Birds ' Scatty scatty cushion, reds, an initial and a Daschund ( sausage dog ). I knew straight away how the design was going to look in my head and am thrilled at the final results.
I received some more gorgeous fabrics in the week, and a rather large order for more buttons. I have so many of them now that I don't really know what to do with them all except sit there and worship them, he he he. I've never been addicted to anything and so I'm not really sure what the symptoms are but I do know that the more buttons I have, the more I want, uh-oh!
So, with more fabrics I've been able to develop my mix and match technique and am coming up with some beautiful and unique designs.
I've developed a habit now of staying up extremely late at night designing a couple of things and then posting photos, even though they've not been sewn up, as it's the only way of keeping me sane right now...if I don't unleash all of this creativity I'm afraid I might explode! I also find it hard to sew at night because I really don't get on so well with artificial lighting and my eyes start to cross, especially with spotty fabrics, and so using this time for design work is great and leaves me free to sew during the day.
Working on a few custom designs this week has kept me very busy indeed and so I've not yet had time to sew up many of my own designs but will do in the coming week, exciting!
I have another exciting project that I'm going to start in a couple of weeks...bags!! Yes, cotton canvas long handled loveliness with Button Fayre style. These are going to be such fun to make and have been in the planning for a few months now and I'm going to add them to my Christmas design collection too eventually.
I'll leave you with a photo of some deliciousness that arrived this week....a simple photo but it gives you that ' child in a sweetie shop ' feeling so enjoy!
