I've been so incredibly busy and had the most magical Christmas and New Year with family too, I'd completely switched off to Button Fayre to make the time with my family, it's important to remember who we are, where we come from and that family needs us too.
I started work for Button Fayre again on 6th January and have loved this week, it's been wonderful catching up with everyone on Facebook and of course sewing again! I've completed a ' Cat and Mouse ' Scatty scatter cushion order this week and even though we're now Sunday, I have to sew up a pencil case for an order but I do love to sew!
I'm also in the middle of a rather special new design, it's for Valentine's or Mother's Day and I'm hoping it turns out as beautiful as I've imagined it. However, it involves 3 hours of cutting shapes out before I can even start to think about sewing and so I've been taking 5 minutes here and there all week to get all of that done and tomorrow I'll sew up the whole design, I can't wait.
Lots of exciting things are happening for Button Fayre right now and I truly believe, and have lived by this since starting in February 2013, that I should take every single opportunity that comes my way, even down to switching on my computer and seeing a notification or two from a networking page on Facebook. If it's given to you then take it!! So, I was thrilled to be asked to join up for a new page on Facebook called ' All Crafts Magazine ' which is a new online magazine dedicated to all of us crafters and not just of the sewing, arty, types. I think it sounds very promising and quite exciting to be a part of and so I'm writing an article for them about my experiences with Button Fayre since starting and hopefully a few other people will benefit from it.
I started with absolutely no idea how to run a business and have just followed my hopes and dreams, stayed extremely positive throughout, taken all opportunities that have come my way, really worked hard ( and put in many hours ) networking and designing and sewing of course. I dislike the accounts side of things if I'm honest but who does like that? Setting up a business in France was quite easy but since then I've had administrative problem after problem, that side of things isn't so easy here as they can't seem to stay organised which can cause a lot of stress to someone like me that just simply wants to work and pay taxes and contributions.
Button Fayre has also been accepted to advertise in another magazine but I'm keeping that under wraps at the moment because I want it to be a huge surprise. I was so nervous as I had to send in a couple of photos and a written piece about myself and my business and when I received the e-mail to say yay or nay I shook!! I opened it and couldn't believe I'd been accepted, thrilled is the word.
Here's my first new design for 2014 ' The Two Bambi's ' Scatty scatter cushion and I think you'll agree that it's pretty delicious, he he he.
I am so proud of the hard work and time that goes into one of my cushion designs. I've had to review my prices for 2014, for custom designs too, due to the amount of time spent as one of these takes on average 12 to 14 hours to cut, prepare and sew. Of course, a new design takes even longer if you count the time it takes to actually do the design too!
So there you go, a few of Button Fayre's plans for 2014 and so far so good, I love what I do!
